Be Bright Classroom Tools

Privacy policy

What Be Bright Classroom Tools holds about you and your students, why, and who can see it.

Who this policy is for

Be Bright Classroom Tools is an online workspace where an English teacher keeps her students, plans and teaches her lessons, and records what happened. This policy explains what information the app holds, why, and who can see it.

It covers everybody who uses the app: teachers, the staff of a school account, and anyone simply reading the site.

What the app holds

About you: your name, your email address and the password you sign in with, the photo you choose to add, your country, time zone and language, the plan you are on, and the support tickets you open. Your password is never stored or seen by anybody in this app, not even the account owner.

About your teaching: the students you add, their lesson times and levels, the material you upload, the lessons you plan and teach, your records, reports, games and saved reusable report or comment drafts.

About money: the plan you are on, what it costs, and the references of the payments you have made. Card details are entered on the payment provider's own page. They never reach this app and are never stored here.

Your students, including children

You record information about your own students, who are often children. You are the one who decides what goes in, so it is your responsibility to have the right to hold it, including permission from a parent or guardian, and from the school where the student belongs to one.

The app holds that information only to run your workspace and show it back to you. A teacher's students are visible to that teacher alone. Where a student belongs to a school account, the school's authorised staff can see them as well, because the school is responsible for that student's teaching.

Why the app uses it

To run the workspace and keep each teacher's information separate from everybody else's.

To do the things you ask it to do, such as translating a lesson, checking spelling, writing a report draft or playing a game in the classroom.

To charge for your own plan, to send you notices about your plan or your trial, and to answer the tickets you open.

To keep the app secure and to fix problems when something goes wrong.

Who else sees it

Service providers who keep the app running include the platform that hosts the app and its database, the payment provider that processes your subscription and our email service. When you request an optional paid AI action available under your plan, the text, selected files or relevant lesson information needed for that task are sent to the AI service provider. Do not submit unnecessary personal or sensitive student information.

Browser language tools are separate from the app's paid AI tools and depend on your browser or device and its settings. Browser mode does not automatically fall back to paid AI. Saving, editing or reusing an existing draft does not itself request another AI generation; saved drafts remain part of your account's stored teaching information.

School accounts: if you teach for a school, that school's administrators and the teachers assigned to a student can see the part of the workspace that concerns them.

Nobody else. Your information is not sold, not rented, and not used for advertising, and it is not handed to anybody else unless the law requires it.

Where it is kept and how long

Information is kept on the app's hosting platform while your account is open. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time, and it is deleted when your account is closed.

Records of payments are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and support tickets are kept so that a conversation can be followed to its end.

Keeping it safe

Every account is private: a teacher reaches her own students, lessons, files, records and payments, and nobody else's, and this is enforced by the app itself and not only by what the screen shows.

A student's photo is stored privately and is opened only through the app, for a short time and only for the account that owns it, so there is no public link to it anywhere.

Card payments are handled entirely by the payment provider. No card number is ever sent to or stored in this app.

Your rights

You may ask to see the information the app holds about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to it being used. You may also ask for a copy of it.

South African law, the Protection of Personal Information Act, gives you these rights, and you may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. In practice, the fastest route is the Support Centre inside the app, and the account owner answers within the time the law allows.

Sessions and cookies

The app uses what it needs to keep you signed in and to remember your own preferences, such as the order of your sidebar. There are no advertising cookies and no tracking of you across other websites.

Questions and changes

Ask through the Support Centre inside the app. If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date, and a change that matters to you will be pointed out rather than slipped in.
